Directors Welcome Remarks

Dear Visitor:
As the Directors of Chum International School and Childcare Centre, it is our pleasure to welcome you to our school and website. Chum means Treasured Friend, and we treasure every child coming through our gates and treat them as unique and precious individuals. Our website is designed to give you a peek view of our inviting learning environment and a clear understanding of what makes Chum such a great school.

Chum is an International Christian School licensed by the Ministry of Education (License # ME/32/INT/0003). Our mandate is rooted in the Greatest Commandment (Matt. 22:34-38 & Deut. 6:4-7). Our mission is to redeem children from the hands of unqualified home-based care-givers and help them to get started on their learning journey; educate and disciple them in a value-based, God-centred and fun-filled environment.

Our School Curriculum spans across three levels; namely, (1) Day-care and Play Centre: [1-2 years]; (2) Kindergarten—British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) [3-4years]; and (3) Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) for Grades 0-12 [4 years and above]. The ACE curriculum was designed in the USA in the 1960s, when many students were not performing at their grade levels, which compelled many to question the structure of the conventional educational system. To address these concerns, ACE Ministries designed a Biblically based educational program geared to meet the learning needs of the individual child. The program consists of self-instructional, godly character-building, individually prescribed, mastery-based curriculum and material. The core curriculum includes Maths, English, Literature and Creative Writing, SST, Science, Word Building and Bible Reading.

Through ACE, God has positioned Chum to lay a foundation for raising a godly generation that will realign Uganda and other nations with their God-ordained destiny. With God and ACE, we pledge to reach the world for Christ, one child at a time through a good, godly and genuine Christian education that will help our children to face the realities of life. It is one thing to want our children to get into high profiled jobs and be successful, and another to provide them with the academic and character training to ensure excellence not only in academics but also in life. Educating for Life and Impacting for Eternity (1 Tim. 4:8) is our School Motto. Because our children need godly character to sustain them where excellence in academia places them, we accentuate godly character training and hold dear our core values of Godliness, Integrity, Professionalism, Hard Work and Excellence. Our training starts in the early years (Prov. 22:6) because it is easier to build boys than repair men. It is our conviction that the heart of education is the education of the heart; and that teaching a child what counts is more important than teaching them how to count.

In addition to our core curriculum, we offer specialized training in art, music, dance and drama, physical education, foreign languages, computer, public speaking and other skills. Paramount to our success is the level of professionalism, commitment, compassion and love that our staff have for children. We are committed to recruiting, training, and supporting high-quality teachers with a passion for children, who are dedicated to excellence and understand that each student is unique and learns as an individual. Together with our experienced and qualified staff, our beautiful play area, classrooms, music-room, computer and science labs facilitate the development of the whole child; while focusing on their intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual growth.

We trust that you will find Chum to be more than what you are looking for and look forward to extending warm greetings to you when you visit our beautiful campus in person.

Our Philosophy

Education should include all three levels of the learning process, which include knowledge, understanding and wisdom; with God’s character being the source of all three. Therefore, education should be God-centered. Read More
